Wisconsin Creamery Butter poster stamp

Price: $1.99

Wisconsin Creamery Butter poster stamp from the first half of the 20th century. This highly attractive blue and yellow label depicts a slab of butter on a plate and identifies it as “the nation’s natural source of vitamins.”

The fine print below the design indicates the label was commissioned by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture and Markets. This dates it to no earlier than 1929, when the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Markets were merged, and no later than 1939, when the combined agency’s name was shortened to Department of Agriculture.

The label measures approximately 33×53 mm, and is mint never hinged with a couple of tiny gum inperfections.
