USA Scott 443 1¢ Washington on postcard, with APS certificate
US Scott 443 (1¢ Washington, flat plate printing, perf. 10 vertically) used on postcard picturing Gorge of the Niagara River below Niagara Falls. Postmarked in Niagara Falls, New York, on July 6, 1914, and mailed to Culpeper, Virginia. This represents a very early use of this coil stamp issued in late May 1914; the earliest known use occurred less than three weeks before this postcard was mailed.
Stamp is centered to left but in fine condition. Postcard has some creases as noted on accompanying APS certificate: “United States Scott No. 443, used and tied to postcard, genuine in all respects, postcard has a few creases.”
