Broken Bay

Although Captain James Cook’s description of “broken land, which appeared to form a bay” gave rise to Broken Bay’s name, experts dispute whether or not it is actually the site referred to in Cook’s logs.¹ The Bay, which is located along the New South Wales coast about 20 miles north of downtown Sydney, is home to a large number of seabirds and other wildlife.²
