1¢ Robert R. Livingston

Date of issue: April 30, 1904

The green 1¢ Louisiana Purchase Exposition stamp features a vignette picturing Robert R. Livingston. To the left of Livingston’s image is a swamp; to the right is a covered wagon traveling through mountainous terrain. Livingston’s birth year (1746) and the year of his death (1813) are included in the scrollwork beneath the vignette.¹

The Livingston stamp paid the 1¢ rate then in effect for postal cards.²
