2¢ Thomas Jefferson stamp
Date of issue: April 30, 1904
On the red 2¢ Louisiana Purchase Exposition stamp, Thomas Jefferson’s bust is framed by classic columns on either side. The dates of the third U.S. President’s birth (1743) and death (1826) are also included in the ribbons below the numerals of value.1
The first-class mail rate in 1904 was two cents per ounce, making the Jefferson stamp the most used value in its series.2
