French River
Ontario, Canada
The French River flows from east to west about 200 miles north of Toronto, cutting a course more than 60 miles long from Lake Nipissing westward to Georgian Bay in Lake Huron.1 2 3 Today, boaters in canoes and kayaks float down the river; in the 1600s, it was French fur traders who paddled along the waterway through the heart of what is now Ontario.4
