Forest
India
Forests cover more than 260,000 square miles of India.1 Approximately 45,000 plant species and 81,000 animal species are found there—an amazing amount of biodiversity packed into a range of different forest types.
Only a little more than 20% of India is currently forested, but officials want to see to see that increase by more than half.2 In Karnataka state, ongoing conservation efforts will, if successful, create the largest unbroken forest in all of Asia.3
