Erma Gorge
Pernik Province, Bulgaria
At its narrowest point, Erma Gorge, which cuts through the middle of a limestone mountain, is only about 16 feet wide.1 Its walls, however, tower as much as several hundred feet above the Erma River, which cascades through the gap over a series of small waterfalls.2
Erma Gorge is located within 50 miles of Bulgaria’s capital, Sofia, near the town of Tran and very close to the Serbian border.3 4
