Cherry Trees
Germany
Dessert recipes dating back at least as far as the 1800s confirm the importance that cherries, and by extension cherry trees, have long had in German cuisine.1 Historically, cherry trees were found mainly in rural areas of Germany, but thanks in part to a gift from Japan following German reunification, the trees can now be seen lining the streets of cities like Berlin and Bonn.2 3 4
