Carson Valley
Nevada, USA
The snow-tipped peaks of the Sierra Nevada tower over Carson Valley, and that scenery is no doubt one of the reasons settlers began moving into the valley in the 1850s, as is illustrated by the stamp shown here.1 Despite being one of the fastest-growing areas in Nevada, Carson Valley is still the site of many ranches and pastures that add to its pastoral beauty.2
Birdwatchers take a special interest in Carson Valley, flocking to western Nevada to spot eagles, falcons, hawks, and even cranes that live there.3
