One of Austria’s major natural resources is timber, which should be no surprise since forests cover nearly half of the nation’s total land area.¹ Portions of the Austrian Forest have been damaged by soil and air pollution, a fact to which the design of the pictured souvenir sheet alludes.² Nevertheless, many of the wooded areas nestled around the country’s valleys and mountains remain lush and verdant.
